Manipur Police arrested three alleged militant cadres linked to different banned outfits and a suspected drug trafficker in separate operations conducted across the state on July 23, recovering arms, ammunition and suspected narcotics.
In one operation, police arrested an alleged extortionist and active cadre of the banned KYKL, identified as Mayanglambam Tomba Singh alias Lakpa (39), from the Tera Urak checkpoint under Bishnupur police station. A resident of Churachandpur’s Bijang Khunou and currently staying at the Phubala Relief Camp, Singh was allegedly involved in an explosion at a petrol pump in Moirang.
Police recovered a 9 mm pistol with a magazine and 11 live rounds of ammunition of different calibres from his possession.
In another operation, security forces apprehended an active cadre of the UKNA, identified as S. Palal Kuki alias Lalboi Singson, from Molnom. According to police, he functioned as the finance head of the outfit and was allegedly involved in several cases related to firing and extortion.
Separately, Manipur Police arrested an alleged extortionist and active cadre of the KCP, Gurumayum Khugamani Sharma alias Nanao alias Bamon (37), from Wangkhei Ayangpali Road under Porompat police station in Imphal East district. He is a resident of Wangkhei Pukhrambam Leirak.
In a separate anti-narcotics operation, police arrested a suspected drug trafficker, identified as Mrs Leila (30) of Lilong Bazar, from her locality under Lilong police station in Thoubal district. During the operation, officers recovered 10 soap cases containing 389 grams of suspected heroin from her possession.
Police said further investigation is underway in all the cases.
