Manipur Police Arrest Two in Kakching, Recover Suspected Contraband During Operation

Imphal, May 20: Manipur Police arrested two individuals from the Pallel Laimanai Chingjin area under Kakching Police Station in Kakching district on May 18 in connection with the recovery of suspected contraband substances.

The arrested persons were identified as Th. Vini (52) and Ayola Shinglai (55), both residents of Liwa Leikun village in the Liwa Sarei area of Chandel district.

According to police, officials recovered 288 SP capsules along with two mobile phones from their possession during the operation. Further investigation into the case is underway.

Meanwhile, security forces continued search and area domination operations in fringe and vulnerable locations across several districts of Manipur as part of ongoing security measures in the state.

Officials said movement of essential commodities along National Highway-37 was carried out under security protection, with a total of 299 vehicles escorted through sensitive routes to ensure safe and uninterrupted transportation.

Authorities also stated that heightened security measures remain in place across vulnerable areas. Security convoys are being deployed at sensitive locations to maintain law and order and facilitate secure movement.

As part of intensified surveillance efforts, a total of 113 nakas and checkpoints were also established across hill and valley districts of the state for monitoring and security enforcement.
