Imphal, Jan 21: Security forces in Manipur successfully averted a potential security threat on January 19 after detecting and neutralising three improvised explosive devices (IEDs) along the sensitive Indo-Myanmar border, officials said. The explosives were safely destroyed on the spot during a focused area domination and sanitisation exercise in the border zone.
The IEDs were recovered near Border Pillars 72–73 following a systematic search operation carried out amid heightened alertness along the frontier. Security personnel conducted an intensive sweep of the area after stepping up vigilance, leading to the timely detection of the concealed explosives before they could pose danger to troops or civilian movement.
Officials said the operation was part of sustained efforts to prevent cross-border infiltration, sabotage and other subversive activities in the strategically important border region. The successful neutralisation of the devices, they added, underscores the importance of proactive surveillance and regular sanitisation drives.
In the aftermath of the operation, security agencies have further strengthened patrolling and monitoring along the Indo-Myanmar border to maintain stability and ensure that attempts to disturb peace in the area are effectively thwarted.
