Security forces detained a 56-year-old alleged senior cadre of the People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (Progressive) Organisation (PRE-PAK (PRO)) in Manipur’s Kamjong district on September 30 following intelligence inputs about his alleged movement from Myanmar, officials said.
Acting on information regarding the movement of a senior PRE-PAK (PRO) cadre from Myanmar through Kamjong, security personnel set up a Mobile Vehicle Check Post in the Chandrakhong area.
During vehicle checks, they detained Moirangthem Boboy Singh, alias Laingam, a resident of Kakmayai Mayai Leikai. Officials identified him as a self-styled captain of PRE-PAK (PRO).
During questioning, Singh allegedly disclosed that he was involved in recruiting four teenage youths from Bishnupur district and subsequently taking them to Myanmar, security officials said.
Further investigation is underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged recruitment and movement of the youths and to identify the wider network involved.
