Massive Blaze Guts 13 Homes in Assam’s Dima Hasao, No Casualties Reported

Guwahati, Feb 3: At least 13 houses were reduced to ashes after a major fire broke out in the Subhash Nagar area under Maibang Police Station in Assam’s Dima Hasao district on February 3, officials said.

The fire spread rapidly, prompting the immediate deployment of fire tenders from the Maibang sub-division. Fire and emergency services personnel battled the flames for several hours but faced considerable difficulty due to the intensity of the blaze, which caused extensive damage before it could be brought under control.

Authorities confirmed that no loss of life or injuries were reported in the incident, bringing some relief to the affected residents. However, several families were left homeless as their houses and belongings were completely destroyed.

Officials said a detailed assessment of the losses is currently underway, while an investigation has been launched to ascertain the cause of the fire. Further details are awaited as authorities continue to evaluate the extent of damage and explore relief measures for those affected.
