MDoNER Highlights Nagaland Athlete Nyia K. Thono’s Gold Medal Achievements in Pencak Silat

National, March 10: The Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region on March 9 spotlighted the achievements of Nyia K. Thono, a rising sportsperson from Nagaland who has earned recognition by winning multiple gold medals in national competitions.

In a post on the social media platform X, the ministry said Thono had recently created history for the state by securing gold medals in several events, including the Khelo India Beach Games 2026. The ministry described her journey as inspiring and highlighted her achievements as a significant moment for Nagaland’s sporting community.

Thono’s success has been widely celebrated as a matter of pride not only for Nagaland but also for the wider northeastern region, reflecting the increasing presence of athletes from the region in national-level sporting events.
