Tezpur: A LAC-wise Mega Health Camp for the Dhekiajuli Legislative Assembly Constituency was held on Thursday at Lokanayak Omeo Kumar Das College, Dhekiajuli, Sonitpur, under the “Susrusha Setu 2025” initiative of the Government of Assam. The initiative was launched during “Seva Hi Samarpan: Seva Saptah.” Today’s camp marked the fifth such health camp organised in the district under the Susrusha Setu 2025 programme.
The camp was inaugurated by the Health Minister and local MLA of Dhekiajuli LAC, Ashok Singhal. Joint Secretary of the Health & Family Welfare Department Pranati Gogoi, Co-District Commissioner of Dhekiajuli Co-District Dyotiva Borah, Executive Director of the National Health Mission (NHM) Assam Dr. Manoj Choudhury, ADC (Health) Twahir Alam, Vice Chairperson of Dhekiajuli Municipal Board Tulika Saikia, Joint Director of Health Services Dr. Biman Sarma, along with other dignitaries, health officials, and workers were present at the event.

The camp received an overwhelming response, recording around 2,340 registrations till the time of reporting and an estimated footfall of nearly 5,000 people. Facilities included 15 registration desks, two Mobile Medical Units, one general laboratory, 10 specialist OPDs including cardiology and neurology, 16 doctors in the general OPD, one AYUSH OPD and yoga centre, a dental OPD, a disability centre issuing disability certificates with UDID cards, and one cancer screening facility. More than 150 health personnel, including doctors, laboratory and ECG technicians, ANM workers, officials from the Social Welfare Department (who also set up a stall on Nutrition and POSHAN), and other staff members rendered their services to the beneficiaries.
Organised under the aegis of the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Government of Assam, the Susrusha Setu 2025 health camps aim to provide comprehensive health screening for children aged 0–18 years, covering more than 50 diseases and health conditions such as congenital heart diseases, neurological disorders, cleft lip and palate, congenital malformations, and endocrine and haematological disorders. General health check-ups and wellness activities are also integral components of the initiative.
