Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma Felicitates 40 SSLC Toppers, Announces Annual Awards Initiative

Shillong, April 10: Conrad K Sangma on Friday felicitated 40 meritorious students from the Khasi and Jaintia Hills districts who excelled in the SSLC (Secondary School Leaving Certificate) examination, recognising their achievements with cash awards under the Chief Minister’s Special Grant.

Describing the programme as a first-of-its-kind initiative, the Chief Minister underscored the government’s commitment to promoting academic excellence and nurturing young talent. He announced that the felicitation ceremony would be institutionalised as an annual event to consistently encourage high-performing students across the state.

During the event, Sangma interacted with the students and listened to their experiences, which he described as deeply inspiring. He expressed confidence in the potential of Meghalaya’s youth, stating that they are well-prepared to contribute meaningfully to the state’s future.

Highlighting the importance of education, he said that recognising excellence and supporting student aspirations remains a key priority for the government. He encouraged the awardees to stay focused, work diligently, and pursue their ambitions with determination.

Reaffirming the administration’s commitment to education, the Chief Minister assured continued support for students in their academic pursuits and overall development in Meghalaya.
