Shillong, March 15: Conrad K Sangma on March 15 chaired a high-level review meeting to assess the destruction caused by a severe hailstorm that struck several parts of Meghalaya, damaging a large number of houses across the state.
The meeting, held via video conference, brought together the Chief Secretary, the Commissioner and Secretary for Revenue and Disaster Management, and Deputy Commissioners from all districts to review the situation and coordinate relief measures.
Sangma directed officials to maintain close monitoring of ground conditions, ensure that affected households receive immediate relief and assistance, and restore essential services as quickly as possible.
Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister highlighted the extent of the destruction, stating that strong winds accompanying the hailstorm had left many houses severely damaged across multiple districts.
The review meeting comes amid continuing unseasonal weather events in the state, which have caused widespread damage and increased pressure on local administrations to respond promptly with relief and rehabilitation measures.
