Meghalaya MLAs Take Bus Ride to New Shillong Township as CM Showcases Key Infrastructure Projects

Shillong, Feb 28: Legislators in Meghalaya left behind their official cars and chauffeurs on Friday, February 27, opting instead to travel by bus to the New Shillong Township, where Conrad K. Sangma presented updates on major infrastructure projects, including the upcoming secretariat and the new legislative assembly building.

The bus journey, organised to mark the conclusion of the Budget Session, was described as lively, with MLAs engaging in informal interactions while receiving briefings on the progress of the large-scale developments underway in the township.

During the visit, Sangma outlined the scope of investments being made in the new state secretariat, the legislative assembly complex and other ongoing construction projects designed to modernise Meghalaya’s administrative framework. He stressed that the New Shillong Township is being developed as a contemporary hub capable of meeting the state’s expanding governance and infrastructure requirements.

The Chief Minister reiterated that the township project reflects a long-term vision to strengthen institutional capacity and create a modern administrative centre to support Meghalaya’s future growth.
