Meghalaya Takes a Step Forward: Additional Secretariat Complex Breaks Ground in Tura

Shillong: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma has laid the foundation for a new Additional Secretariat Complex in Tura, marking a significant milestone in the state’s efforts to strengthen administrative infrastructure and governance in the Garo Hills region. The ceremony was accompanied by a prayer ceremony, underscoring the government’s commitment to bringing governance closer to the people.

The establishment of the Additional Secretariat in Tura is a long-standing demand of the people of Garo Hills, and is expected to ease administrative operations, reduce dependence on Shillong for official matters, and make public services more accessible to citizens in the western part of Meghalaya. Chief Minister Sangma described the project as a “significant step forward” for the state, particularly for the people of Garo Hills, as it will improve administrative efficiency, decentralize decision-making, and serve as a symbol of progress and inclusivity.

The Chief Minister expressed gratitude to everyone involved in the project, dedicating the milestone to the people of Garo Hills and the progress of the state.
