Mikirbheta Police Seize 44 Cattle, Arrest Suspected Smugglers in Morigaon

Mikirbheta Police have intensified their crackdown on alleged cattle smuggling in Morigaon district, intercepting four vehicles carrying 44 cattle and arresting suspected smugglers during an operation at Kalikajari.

Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted the four vehicles allegedly being used to transport the cattle. The vehicles bore registration numbers AS 12 CC 3029, AS 01 SC 5595, AS 02 DC 9729 and AS 02 EC 1343.

Police identified the arrested persons as Firkul Islam, Sufikul Islam, Sadikul, Ubaidulla, Insan Ali, Mofikul Alam and Hasen Ali. However, the information released regarding the operation states that six people were arrested while seven names have been listed.

The rescued cattle have been taken into custody as police investigate the alleged illegal transportation and seek to establish the wider network involved.

Authorities are also examining the intended destination of the cattle and other circumstances surrounding the seizure. Further details regarding the case and legal proceedings are awaited.
