Biswanath Chariali: In a meeting convened by the North Jamuguri chapter of Lekhika Samaroh, two Assamese books compiled by Mira Bhattacharya were released at Dhalaibil under Sonitpur district today. The book release programme was held at the Durga Mandir premises at Dhalaibil with Rupali Bora, president of Sonitpur Zila Lekhika Samaroh in the chair. Child literature Dilip Kumar Baruah and emerging writer Minku Kalita graced the programme and unveiled two books compiled by veteran writer Mira Bhattacharya. The two books included the author’s biography Mur Jibon Parikrama and a travelogue Khei Manoram Thaibur.

The programme was attended by Narayan Saikia, Jinkumani Baruah, Mamata Begum, Kabita Sarma, Manjula Bezbaruah, Jit Bora among others. The event was organized to celebrate the 77th birthday of the veteran social worker and writer Mira Bhattacharya. The senior writer was accorded a warm felicitation by the organizer besides North Jamuguri Mahila Samabai Samiti, North Jamuguri Mahila Sanskritik Mancha, Dhalaibil Durga Mandir along with many individuals at the very outset of the book release programme. The book release programme began with a song performed by Munmi Borthakur followed by a welcome address offered by Dilip Bhattacharya. The meeting was addressed by Dilip Kumar Baruah, Minku Kalita, Kamini Baruah, Narayan Saikia, Jit Bora among others. Lahari Bora, secretary of the North Jamuguri chapter of the Lekhika Samaroh conducted the proceedings.
