Guwahati, October 10: Mira Borthakur, President, Assam Pradesh Mahila Congress has extended an invitation to senior BJP leader Rajen Gohain and other BJP members reportedly in contact with Congress, urging them to join the party.
Speaking to the media, Borthakur said, “It’s not just Rajen Gohain. Many people from the BJP are reaching out to join us. Those close to the Assam Chief Minister may also join.”
Commenting on Gohain’s recent resignation from the BJP, she added, “Rajen Gohain has rightly said that BJP has become the enemy of the Assamese people. He should have said this earlier when we were raising the issue. I appeal to him to join us. Having worked with a big party like the BJP, he will find Congress equally large and capable of delivering for the people of Assam.”
Borthakur emphasized that the Congress party welcomes experienced leaders who are committed to working for Assam’s development and the welfare of its people.
