Aizawl: The Mizoram government has approved a 4 per cent increase in dearness allowance (DA) for state government employees, raising it from 40 per cent to 44 per cent of basic pay with effect from 1 November. The decision was taken during a meeting of the Council of Ministers chaired by Chief Minister Lalduhoma, a senior official confirmed.
The cabinet has also cleared an additional 2 per cent hike that will come into force from 1 April next year, taking the DA to 46 per cent. Despite the upward revision, officials noted that Mizoram’s government employees remain behind their central counterparts, who currently receive about 53 per cent of their basic pay as DA.
The latest increase comes more than a year after the previous revision in October 2023, when the allowance was raised from 36 per cent to 40 per cent.
In a separate decision, the Council of Ministers approved a special incentive allowance for police personnel in the assistant sub-inspector rank and below who are serving on deputation under the Anti-Corruption Bureau.
