MLA Phanidhar Talukdar Narrowly Escapes Rhino Attack 

Baksa: Phanidhar Talukdar, MLA of Bhabanipur constituency, had a narrow escape on Saturday after a wild rhinoceros reportedly charged at a group of visitors during an official visit to Manas National Park in Assam. According to sources, the incident occurred while the MLA was on a routine visit inside the park along with forest officials and other accompanying persons. The situation turned tense when a one-horned rhinoceros suddenly emerged from the bushes and moved aggressively towards the group, triggering panic.

Alert forest personnel acted swiftly and guided the visitors to a safe distance, preventing any casualties. The MLA and others remained unharmed, though the incident caused brief chaos at the site. Forest officials later stated that such encounters are rare but possible, especially during animal movement hours. They reiterated that Manas National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is home to a rich diversity of wildlife, including rhinos, and strict safety protocols are followed during visits.

MLA Talukdar thanked the forest department for their prompt response and urged visitors to strictly adhere to safety guidelines while visiting protected wildlife areas. The incident has once again highlighted the importance of caution and professional supervision during wildlife tourism and official visits in ecologically sensitive zones.
