Mobile awareness van campaign launched in Baksa

Baksa: A 90-day Mobile Awareness Van Campaign under the initiative “Xurashita Shaisab Sunali Axom” was launched on February 19 in Baksa district, with the aim of strengthening child protection and working towards a Baal Vivah Mukta Bharat. The campaign is being organised by the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Baksa, in collaboration with ACRD NGO. It seeks to spread awareness on child rights, prevent child marriage, and ensure a safe, healthy and happy childhood for every child in the district.

The mobile awareness van was formally flagged off at the District Centre, Baksa by Agustus Tigga, Executive Member (A&H) of the Bodoland Territorial Council. Addressing the gathering, Tigga emphasised that protecting children is a collective responsibility and called for united efforts to eradicate child marriage from society. He also stressed the importance of conducting awareness programmes in schools so that students understand the harmful effects and legal consequences of child marriage and grow up to be informed and responsible citizens.

Officials from the DCPU, representatives of ACRD NGO, and other stakeholders were present during the launch, reaffirming their commitment to safeguarding children’s rights across the district.
