Dhubri: The foundation stone and central pillar of the new Rajiv Bhavan building in Dhubri were laid today in a ceremonial event attended by Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Gaurav Gogoi and AICC secretary and APCC in-charge Jitendra Singh.
Dhubri MP Rokibul Hussain, DCC president Asma Begum, MLAs Wajed Ali Choudhury and Abdus Sowahan Ali Sarkar, along with party leaders and supporters, were present. Jitendra Singh announced that the building will be constructed with contributions from Congress workers, elected representatives and the public, as directed by the AICC.
Speaking to the media, Gogoi sharply criticised the Assam government, questioning the decision to continue the North East Festival for two days after the death of singer Zubeen Garg. He alleged a lack of transparency, refusal to provide RTI information, and claimed that people fear Zubeen may not receive justice under the current government.

Gogoi also accused central election officials of failing to remain neutral during the Bihar elections and alleged large-scale removal of names from voter lists. He further claimed that the Chief Minister appears “delighted” whenever the Election Commission issues new directives, hinting at political manipulation of electoral rolls.
He alleged that the Chief Minister aims to include people from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh in Assam’s voter lists to benefit the BJP.
Responding to media questions, Gogoi criticised the allotment of 40,000 bighas of land to the Adani Group, questioning whether Adani has become the Chief Minister’s “owner.”
He also accused the Chief Minister of intimidating political workers by frequently invoking a “10th-day warning” when leaders join the Congress. Gogoi announced that the party will now hold joining programmes on the 10th of every month.
