Duliajan: Mrinaljyoti Rehabilitation Centre (MRC), an organisation, working for the empowerment of persons with disabilities for over two and a half decades, successfully organized an Awareness-cum-Training Program under Project “OIL SAKSHYAM” for Anganwadi workers of the JOYPUR ICDS Project at the Lengerijan Tea Estate Model Anganwadi Centre, Naharkatia on October 31.
The program aimed to enhance the understanding of Anganwadi workers on various disability-related issues, focusing on early identification and intervention, proper documentation, and the crucial role of frontline workers in supporting children with disabilities at the community level.
The event was graced by Reeta Chetia, Child Development Project Officer (CDPO),Joypur ICDS Project, other officials and supervisors, who joined hands with the MRC team to make the session both impactful and interactive.

Speaking on the occasion, the MRC resource team emphasized the importance of timely identification and referral of children with developmental delays, while underscoring the need for inter-departmental coordination among the health, education, and social welfare sectors to promote inclusion and holistic development.
This initiative is part of the ongoing “OIL SAKSHYAM” project, supported by Oil India Ltd. under its CSR initiative.
While talking to this correspondent, MRC principal Amiya Pathak Borpujari thanked OIL for their continued support and commitment towards the empowerment and inclusion of persons with disabilities across the region.
Such collaborative initiatives are expected to strengthen the knowledge base of Anganwadi workers and foster a more inclusive early childhood care and education system in rural and tea garden areas in the days ahead. Amiya Pathak Borpujari said.
