Nagaland-based musical duo CoZye — featuring beatboxer Coffee and fingerstyle guitarist Zayie Zacchaeus — is fast becoming one of India’s most compelling indie acts, captivating audiences with their innovative blend of beatboxing, fingerstyle guitar and loop-based soundscapes. The pair creates a full-band experience using only voice, guitar and a loop station, setting them apart in the country’s independent music circuit.
Coffee, a two-time Northeast India Beatbox Champion, and Zayie, a Northeast India Guitar Champion, merge their individual strengths to craft a unique sonic identity that draws from acoustic, pop, indie and electronic influences. Their performances often include reimagined Asian pop covers as well as original tracks, offering listeners a refreshing mix of rhythm and melody.
The duo recently wrapped up a sold-out residency at BT Studio’s The Beach Terrace in Chennai, where they performed their 2025 single “Monochrome” to packed audiences. Their rising profile has been shaped by earlier appearances at major events, including the Hornbill Music Festival and a popular beachside live session in Chennai, each of which expanded their growing fandom.
CoZye’s national breakthrough came with their appearance on India’s Got Talent Season 11. Judges lauded their artistry, with Navjot Singh Sidhu remarking that he was already familiar with their journey and describing the pair as “very, very famous.” Malaika Arora echoed the praise, noting that she had watched their videos and was impressed by their originality and energy. Their audition, marked by a seamless fusion of rhythm, melody and electronic layers, became one of the standout moments of the season.
Beyond live shows, the duo maintains a strong social media presence, particularly on Instagram, where they regularly upload performance clips and collaborations. Their work has earned state-level recognition in both Nagaland and Tripura, solidifying their artistic influence within and beyond the Northeast.
