Nagaon Police Seize Drugs and Cash in Late-Night Bhakatgaon Raid, Two Arrested

Nagaon, June 5: In a continued crackdown against drug trafficking, Nagaon Police carried out a late-night anti-narcotics operation in Bhakatgaon and recovered a significant quantity of narcotic substances along with cash, officials said.

The raid, conducted by Nagaon Sadar Police on the night of June 4, led to the seizure of 778 suspected intoxicating tablets, 1.92 grams of heroin, and ₹53,600 in cash.

During the operation, police arrested two alleged drug peddlers identified as Mofidul Islam and Jasmin Sultana. Officials said both were reportedly involved in the transportation and distribution of heroin in the area.

The seized contraband and cash have been taken into custody, and a case has been registered in connection with the matter.

Police have launched further investigation to trace the source of the narcotics and identify others linked to the network. The operation forms part of Assam Police’s ongoing statewide campaign against drug trafficking and substance abuse.
