In a significant breakthrough against vehicle theft, police in Assam’s Nagaon district recovered six suspected stolen motorcycles and arrested an alleged bike thief during a special operation carried out on June 10.
The raid was conducted by personnel of the Doomdoomia Police Outpost under the leadership of police officer Kartik Basak in the Balisatra weekly market area of Doomdoomia.
During the operation, police apprehended Ashikul Islam, a resident of Bajakati Pathar under the jurisdiction of Beloguri Police Station.
Officials said six motorcycles suspected to have been stolen were recovered and seized during the raid.
Investigators have launched a detailed probe to determine the origin of the seized vehicles and examine whether they are connected to a larger inter-district vehicle theft network.
The arrested accused is currently being questioned, and police are working to identify other individuals allegedly involved in the racket.
Police officials said the investigation is continuing and indicated that further recoveries and arrests could follow based on information gathered during the probe.
