Naharlagun Police Recover 20 Stolen Laptops from TRIHMS IT Cell Within 24 Hours

Naharlagun police recovered 20 brand-new laptops and accessories stolen from the IT Cell of the Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS), successfully cracking the case within 24 hours of the reported theft. The swift breakthrough followed a written FIR filed on 3 December 2025, which stated that two unidentified individuals had committed the theft. A case was subsequently registered as NLG/PS/C.No. 163/25 under the relevant legal provisions.

Under the supervision of SDPO Naharlagun Rishi Longdo, the investigation was led by Inspector Krishnendu Dev, Officer-in-Charge of Naharlagun Police Station. He was assisted by SI Niri Rama, who served as the investigating officer, along with SI Vivek Linggi, HC K. Samyor, HC A. Poyom, Ct. Sanu Raj, Ct. D. Borah and Ct. T. Dawa. The team inspected the crime scene, analysed CCTV footage, identified the suspected culprits and conducted raids across several locations, which ultimately led to the recovery of the stolen equipment.

Police arrested four individuals in connection with the theft. They were identified as Bicky Chetry (28) of Banderdewa; Taba Rajiv (18) of Itanagar; Miss Nikh Yajur (28) of Yazali; and Miss Lina Josam (22) of Aalo. Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing to determine whether more people were involved and to recover any remaining items.

Superintendent of Police, ICR Naharlagun, Dr Nyelam Nega urged residents to install functional CCTV cameras and remain vigilant about suspicious activities, stressing that preventive measures play a vital role in deterring such crimes.
