Guwahati: A discussion programme organised by the Indian Development and Progress Association was held at Gauhati University, where participants paid tribute to Assam’s folk music icon Zubeen Garg. The gathering included a brief felicitation ceremony followed by a symbolic tree-planting event in his memory.
During the programme, a nahor sapling was planted at the residence of Dr Rituparna Bora, Professor in the Department of Bioengineering and Technology at Gauhati University. Attendees offered prayers for the departed artiste, honouring his contribution to Assamese culture and music.
The event was attended by Association President Panchami Sarkar, Chief Secretary Samsul Alam, active member Mintu (Abhigyan) Baishya, along with Nabidul Ahmed, Aradhan Biswas and several others.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Bora expressed his support for the association’s future plans and assured that he would remain connected with its upcoming initiatives while offering necessary guidance.
