Nagaon: Along with the nation, various trade unions in Nagaon district also observed a successful general strike today, protesting the central government’s move to repeal 30 labour laws and merge them into four labour codes.
Protesters from various organizations, including Assam State Kishak Sabha, All India Kishak Sabha, and All Assam Construction Workers Union and Helpers Union, picketed government offices and financial institutions. They reverberate the air of the small town with various slogans.

A section of protesters blocked roads, leading to a scuffle with police, who detained several protesters, including Gobinda Chandra Nath, Ratul Bara, and Arup Kumar Mahanta, Nuruddin, Dipti Sarkar and others. Meanwhile, Gramin Vikash Bank employees and retirees staged a protest in front of Nagaon University, demanding their pending dues and benefits.
