Navajyoti Club Triumphs Over Nabajyoti Cricket Club in GSA Qualifying Round Opener

Guwahati: The Guwahati Sports Association (GSA) Qualifying Round Cricket League 2024–25 commenced on Wednesday at Nehru Stadium, with an exciting opening match between Nabajyoti Cricket Club and Navajyoti Club. The match, limited to 20 overs, saw Navajyoti Club secure a convincing 31-run victory over their opponents.

Winning the toss, Nabajyoti Cricket Club opted to field first. Batting for Navajyoti Club, Hrishikesh Tamuli led from the front with an unbeaten 51 runs off 39 balls, including four boundaries and a six. Dharani Dhar Rabha contributed 36 runs off 20 balls with three fours and two sixes, while Rohit Gaonkhowa added 15 runs from 25 balls. Navajyoti Club posted a total of 126 for 6 in their allotted 20 overs.

In response, Nabajyoti Cricket Club struggled to chase the target, managing only 95 for 9 in 20 overs. Jyotipom Das top-scored with 23 runs from 30 balls, supported by Nabajyoti Hazarika’s 17 off 25 balls. Bharagav Mazumder and Bharagav Jyoti Borah added 13 and 12 runs respectively.

Navajyoti’s bowlers delivered a disciplined performance, with Dipjyoti Talukdar taking 3 wickets for 18 runs in 4 overs, while Jintu Moni Deka and Kunal Das picked up one wicket each. For Nabajyoti, Dharani Dhar Rabha claimed 3 wickets for 4 runs in 3 overs, with Kan Urang and Chanekya Sarma taking 3 for 22 and 2 for 20 respectively.

With this win, Navajyoti Club began their campaign on a high note in the GSA Qualifying Round Cricket League 2024–25, organised by the Guwahati Sports Association under the leadership of its President, Paresh Chandra Das. Tomorrow’s match will feature FC Green Valley taking on Frontier Club at the same venue.

The match was officiated by umpires Manash Das and Jintu Das, with Nitul Ali serving as the scorer.
