Silchar: The newly constructed building of Adharchand Higher Secondary School was formally inaugurated on Monday as part of a state-level programme in which Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated 67 modern school buildings and laid foundation stones for 61 new schools. Assam Education Minister Dr. Ranoj Pegu attended the programme digitally.
Silchar MLA Dipayan Chakraborty, the chief guest at the inauguration, described the occasion as historic for the institution, noting that the new building would strengthen the school’s academic environment and contribute to its overall growth. He emphasised that education is the backbone of development and highlighted the government’s focus on upgrading educational infrastructure, improving sanitation facilities, and enhancing public confidence in government schools.

MLA Chakraborty congratulated the teachers, praised engineer Saugata Shome for the master plans, and urged school authorities and students to maintain the campus and remain connected with the institution even after graduation. He also lauded the leadership of the Chief Minister and Education Minister for the visible progress in the state’s education sector.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by headmistress-in-charge Madhuri Barman, School Management Committee President Subhrangshu Shekhar Bhattacharjee, former principal Barnali Bhattacharjee, academic representatives, and other dignitaries. Barman expressed gratitude for the new building, constructed under the North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme, which features smart classrooms and modern facilities.
The event included an inaugural song by former student Saikat Das, a cultural performance by Pranabananda International School students, and a vote of thanks delivered by Subhrangshu Shekhar Bhattacharjee.
