NFR Celebrates 150 Years of ‘Vande Mataram’ with Patriotic Fervour

Guwahati: The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) joined the nation in celebrating the 150th anniversary of India’s National Song, “Vande Mataram”, with enthusiasm and patriotic zeal across its jurisdiction. The celebration coincided with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s inauguration of the year-long nationwide commemoration held at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, New Delhi, where he also released a commemorative stamp and coin to mark the occasion. The year-long celebration, from November 7, 2025, to November 7, 2026, honours 150 years of the iconic song that inspired India’s freedom movement and continues to embody the spirit of unity and devotion to the nation.

At NFR’s headquarters in Maligaon, the main programme was held at the NFRSA Complex, led by Shri Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, General Manager, NFR. The event witnessed participation from senior officials, railway employees, their families, and school children. The gathering united in the mass singing of the full version of “Vande Mataram,” filling the venue with emotion and patriotic fervour.

At 9:50 AM, a nationwide mass singing of “Vande Mataram” echoed across NFR locations, symbolizing the nation’s unity and reverence for the timeless song composed by Bankimchandra Chatterji in 1875. The 150th anniversary stands as a proud reminder of India’s enduring spirit of harmony, patriotism, and national pride.
