Guwahati: In a major step toward digital transformation and improved passenger services, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has successfully commissioned 21 Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs) across 15 key stations under the Alipurduar Division. Fully operational since November 17, 2025, the ATVMs mark a significant milestone in modernizing unreserved ticketing systems in the region.
The new ATVMs are designed to promote digital ticketing, ease congestion at Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS) counters, and provide a quick, seamless, and cashless ticketing experience. Passengers can now use smart cards to obtain unreserved journey tickets and platform tickets efficiently, especially during peak travel hours, thereby reducing long queues at traditional booking counters.
