Guwahati: The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has reached a major digital milestone with the successful implementation of a 100% biometric Sign On/Sign Off system for all Ticket Checking Staff across its five divisions. The system is now fully operational in 22 TTE lobbies and has been installed at major stations including Katihar, Kishanganj, Alipurduar Junction, New Bongaigaon, Rangiya Junction, Kamakhya, Guwahati, Dibrugarh Town and New Tinsukia.
This modernised attendance mechanism marks a significant leap forward in improving transparency, accountability and efficiency within NFR’s operational framework. By capturing real-time, error-free attendance, the new system enables better monitoring and optimal deployment of staff for train duties, leading to improved punctuality and more effective onboard service delivery.
NFR officials report that the biometric system has already contributed to higher checking efficiency, helping curb ticketing irregularities and boosting revenue. Enhanced staff presence in the field has also resulted in increased window ticket sales across several stations.
