Guwahati: To ensure smooth and hassle-free travel during the upcoming Holi festival, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has extended the operation of four pairs of Holi special trains during February–March 2026 to cater to the anticipated surge in passenger traffic.
According to NFR, train numbers 07046/07047 operating between Secunderabad and Naharlagun, and 03129/03130 running between Kolkata Terminal and New Jalpaiguri, will make one additional trip each in both directions. Additionally, train numbers 09189/09190 connecting Mumbai Central and Katihar will operate six extra trips each way, while the weekly special train numbers 04614/04613 between Amritsar and Katihar will run three additional trips in both directions. All extended services will follow the existing schedules, stoppages, and coach compositions.

Train No. 07046 will run on February 27, 2026, with its return service on March 2, while the Kolkata–New Jalpaiguri specials are scheduled for February 28 and March 1 respectively. The Mumbai Central–Katihar specials will continue weekly services till the end of March, and the Amritsar–Katihar specials will operate between late February and early March on designated days.
Railway officials said the extension will help clear waitlists on regular trains and enhance connectivity between the Northeast, Eastern, Northern, and Western regions. Passengers are advised to check detailed timings and stoppages on the IRCTC website and official NFR social media platforms before planning their journeys.
