NFR Honours Staff for Vigilance during Kokrajhar Blast

Guwahati: The General Manager of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, felicitated three frontline railway staff for their exemplary vigilance, professionalism, and prompt action that helped avert a potential disaster. The awardees — Jitendra Kumar (Loco Pilot – Goods/APDJ), Sailendra Kumar Keshari (Sr. ALP/APDJ), and Bholaram Das (Train Manager – Goods/APDJ) — were honoured with cash awards and certificates in recognition of their alertness and dedication to duty.

The incident occurred on October 23, 2025, around 00:57 hrs, when a goods train carrying sugar was passing between Kokrajhar and Salakati stations in the Bodoland Territorial Region. The crew sensed a heavy jerk and, showing remarkable presence of mind, stopped the train, alerted control authorities, and discovered damage to the railway track caused by a suspected blast near OHE Mast No. 228/1. Their timely action prevented a major mishap and ensured the safety of railway property and lives.

Thanks to the coordinated efforts of frontline workers, engineers, and security personnel, the damaged section was repaired within hours. Debris was cleared, sleepers and tracks were replaced, and operations were restored swiftly.

NFR lauded the devotion and teamwork of all frontline staff who worked tirelessly under pressure to maintain operational safety. The felicitation underscores NFR’s unwavering commitment to vigilance, passenger safety, and the resilience of its railway infrastructure.
