Guwahati: The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) introduced several new train services during 2025 with the objective of enhancing rail connectivity, improving passenger convenience and strengthening regional as well as inter-state travel across the Northeast and adjoining areas. As part of these initiatives, the Guwahati–North Lakhimpur–Guwahati Jan Shatabdi Express (Train No. 12047/12048) was introduced on a bi-weekly basis from January 7, 2025. This was followed by the launch of the New Bongaigaon–Guwahati–New Bongaigaon Passenger (Train No. 55817/55818), which commenced daily services from January 4, 2025. Additionally, the Tinsukia–Naharlagun–Tinsukia Express (Train No. 15911/15912) began tri-weekly operations from January 5, 2025, significantly improving regional connectivity.
To strengthen long-distance travel, the Sealdah–Jalpaiguri Road–Sealdah Weekly Express (Train No. 13115/13116) was introduced from June 20, 2025. In the Darjeeling hill section, the Darjeeling–Ghum–Darjeeling service (Train No. 52592) was launched on September 20, 2025, catering to tourism and heritage travel needs. September 2025 witnessed the introduction of several major services, including the Sairang–Anand Vihar Terminal–Sairang Rajdhani Express (Train No. 20507/20508), which commenced weekly operations from September 19. The Guwahati–Sairang–Guwahati Express (Train No. 15609/15610) started daily services from September 13, while the Kolkata–Sairang–Kolkata Express (Train No. 13125/13126) began tri-weekly operations from September 16.

Further additions included the Danapur–Jogbani–Danapur Vande Bharat Express (Train No. 26302/26301), operating six days a week from September 17, the Siliguri–Katihar–Siliguri Express (Train No. 15702/15701) from September 16, and the Erode–Jogbani–Erode Amrit Bharat Express (Train No. 16601/16602), introduced as a weekly service from September 25. These introductions during 2025 underscore NFR’s commitment to expanding rail services, improving accessibility and supporting the overall socio-economic development of the region.
