A team from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) Guwahati Branch, in collaboration with the Tripura Police, carried out extensive raids across several locations in Unakoti District during the early hours of November 12.
According to intelligence sources, the operation targeted two individuals suspected of involvement in the fabrication of fake documents. The suspects have been identified as 45-year-old Paritosh Shil, a resident of Bhagyapur, Ward No. 3, under Kailashahar Police Station, and 42-year-old Ranu Pal from the Nidevi area under Kumarghat Police Station.
Officials confirmed that the search operations were conducted simultaneously at multiple premises linked to the two suspects. “Both individuals are believed to be associated with the production and distribution of forged documents. No arrests have been made so far, and the investigation is ongoing under the supervision of senior NIA and district police officials,” an official source said.
The coordinated action marks a significant step in the ongoing crackdown against document forgery networks operating in the region, as authorities continue to trace the wider links and motives behind the alleged racket.
