Imphal, July 29: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has recorded the statement of United Naga Council (UNC) President NG Lorho as part of its investigation into the targeted ambush and killing of three pastors in Manipur.
Speaking after interacting with NIA officials, Lorho said the UNC had welcomed the investigating team and assured it of full cooperation in uncovering the truth behind the attack.
He said the council was committed to assisting the agency in every possible way during the investigation into the targeted killings of the three pastors.
Lorho also urged the NIA to expedite its investigation into the killing of six Naga men, alleging that no tangible progress had been made in the case so far.
Expressing dissatisfaction over the pace of the probe, he said the Naga community had yet to witness any meaningful action by the authorities.
Warning of a possible escalation of protests, Lorho said the Naga people could intensify their agitation beyond the ongoing economic blockade if justice continued to be delayed. He added that the responsibility for resolving the situation rested with both the Government of Manipur and the Government of India.
