No Fuel Shortage in West Tripura, Administration Urges Public Not to Panic

Agartala, March 17: The district administration of West Tripura has assured that there is no shortage of fuel following a review of petroleum product availability and distribution across the district.

District Magistrate and Collector Vishal Kumar chaired a बैठक with Sub-Divisional Magistrates and dealers of Petroleum, Oil and Lubricants (POL) to assess the current supply position. Officials said discussions focused on the availability and distribution of petrol, diesel and other fuel products.

According to an official release, POL dealers informed the administration that adequate stock is available and supply remains stable. The District Magistrate emphasised that there is no shortage and urged the public not to panic or spread rumours regarding fuel availability.

Dealers were directed to ensure smooth and equitable distribution while avoiding bulk supply and hoarding so that regular consumers are not affected. The administration said it is closely monitoring the situation to maintain uninterrupted fuel supply across the district.

The review comes amid concerns over global energy disruptions linked to tensions in West Asia. On March 16, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas stated that crude oil stocks in the country remain sufficient, although LPG supply continues to be an area of concern.

At a press briefing, Joint Secretary Sujata Sharma said all refineries are operating at full capacity and petrol pumps are functioning normally, with no reports of disruption. She added that supply of piped natural gas and compressed natural gas for transport remains stable, while the government is working to ensure uninterrupted LPG availability and has encouraged consumers to shift to PNG connections where feasible.
