OIL Strengthens Rural Economy Through Project Rupantar

Duliajan: In a significant push towards sustainable livelihood generation in Upper Assam, Oil India Limited (OIL) organised its annual material and financial assistance distribution programme under its flagship CSR initiative, Project Rupantar, at the CSR Activity Complex ‘Swanirbhar’ in Tipling here on Wednesday. The programme was attended by Terash Gowalla, MLA of Duliajan; Dr Ankur Baruah, Director (HR); Binayananda Bharali, RCE; senior officials of OIL; and beneficiaries from various groups.

Since its launch in 2008-09, Project Rupantar has supported 5,392 SHGs and JLGs, positively impacting 32,079 families through skill development, management training and financial aid. During 2025-26, OIL extended support to 288 JLGs, benefiting 1,279 families.

Women-led handloom groups received looms, yarn and revolving funds, while farm mechanisation, agro-carrier, biofloc and thresher groups were provided equipment and subsidies to enhance productivity. An exhibition of value-added weaving products showcased the project’s growing socio-economic impact across the region.
