Guwahati, March 12: A man lost his life while another sustained injuries after a road accident in Kheroni of Assam on Wednesday.
The mishap occurred near Purana Basti under the jurisdiction of Kheroni Police Station when a motorcycle collided with a Maruti WagonR amid heavy rain and stormy weather conditions.
The deceased was identified as Fuleshwar Chauhan, who died on the spot following the collision. Another individual, Manik Das, sustained injuries and is currently undergoing medical treatment.
Preliminary information indicated that both men were returning home after completing their daily wage work. They were travelling on a TVS motorcycle from Kheroni towards Kheroni Charali when the accident occurred. Heavy rainfall at the time is believed to have reduced visibility and made the road slippery, possibly contributing to the collision.
The motorcycle involved in the incident bore registration number AS02 AA9154, while the WagonR car carried registration number AS-02-AW-0223.
Police personnel arrived at the scene shortly after the accident to secure the area and restore traffic movement. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident and are examining factors including adverse weather conditions, vehicle speed and potential driver error to determine the exact cause of the crash.
