Search and rescue operations in flood-hit Keyi Panyor district of Arunachal Pradesh entered the fourth day on June 27, with authorities recovering one more body while continuing efforts to trace three persons who remain missing.
According to the latest monsoon damage update issued by the district administration, the body of 30-year-old Miss Ballari Marak, also known as Olyn Synkly, was recovered at around 12 noon. Local residents identified the deceased.
Ballari Marak was a resident of Bhoirymbong in Lumpshoping under Ri Bhoi district of Meghalaya. She was the daughter of Late Shangain Syngkli and Willina K. Marak.
The district administration said joint search and rescue operations by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and Keyi Panyor Police are continuing in the NEEPCO Colony flash flood-affected area to locate the remaining missing persons.
The three persons still missing have been identified as Elesh Marak (13), Tao Anjina (46) and Sourav Kumar.
Meanwhile, road connectivity in the district continues to remain severely disrupted. The Potin–Kimin Road remains blocked due to persistent landslides and continuous slippage of earth and debris despite repeated clearance efforts.
Police personnel have been deployed at vulnerable locations along the Pitapool–Potin route to assist in landslide clearance operations, regulate traffic movement and ensure public safety.
District authorities said restoration work is being carried out on a war footing, subject to prevailing weather conditions. Priority is being given to the movement of emergency response vehicles, essential supplies and engineering equipment to restore connectivity at the earliest.
