Orange Alert Issued for Thunderstorms in Parts of Tripura

Agartala, April 27: The India Meteorological Department’s Meteorological Centre in Agartala has issued an orange alert warning of moderate thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds and isolated heavy rainfall across parts of Tripura over the next two days.

According to the latest bulletin for April 27–28, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and winds reaching 50–60 kmph are very likely at one or two locations in Khowai district and West Tripura district. These conditions may also bring isolated spells of heavy rainfall.

The alert remains in force for April 28–29, with similar weather patterns expected in the same districts. Authorities have retained the orange alert status, indicating the potential for significant disruption due to adverse conditions.

For other districts, a yellow alert has been issued, signalling the likelihood of thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds of up to 50–60 kmph at isolated locations.

The Meteorological Centre said it is closely monitoring the evolving weather situation and advised the public to stay updated through official advisories.
