Over 283 Grams of Heroin Seized in Manipur, Two Arrested in Separate Drug Crackdowns

Security forces intensified their anti-narcotics अभियान in Manipur with the arrest of two individuals and the recovery of a substantial quantity of drugs during separate operations conducted on January 17 in Imphal West and Thoubal districts, officials said.

In Imphal West district, personnel arrested 41-year-old Khulakpam Ayajuddin from Bengoon Loukok Mayai Leikai under the jurisdiction of Mayang Imphal police station. During the operation, officers recovered six soap cases containing Heroin No. 4, with a combined weight of 283.2 grams. Officials noted that the volume of heroin seized indicates involvement in organised drug trafficking rather than personal consumption.

On the same day, another operation was carried out in Thoubal district, leading to the arrest of Md. Riyash Khan, 31, from his residence at Sangaiyumpham Nungpou Mathak Leikai under Thoubal police station. A search of the premises resulted in the seizure of 13 bottles of Delstal cough syrup, 33 bottles of Berrycof cough syrup, nine strips and three loose tablets of Nitrazepam, along with a mobile phone and several documents.

Security officials said the actions form part of sustained efforts to curb the circulation of narcotics and controlled substances across the state. Investigations are ongoing to determine possible connections between the accused and wider drug supply networks operating in the region.
