Over 32,000 Aspirants Vie for 1,176 Nagaland Police Constable Posts in Statewide Recruitment Drive

Kohima, Jan 9: More than 32,000 aspirants have thrown their hats into the ring for 1,176 constable (general duty) positions in the Nagaland Police, underscoring the scale and competitiveness of the state’s largest ongoing recruitment exercise. Officials confirmed on January 8 that the recruitment rally, which began on Wednesday, is being conducted simultaneously across multiple districts and will continue over the coming days in a phased, district-wise manner.

The selection process has started with document verification, after which candidates are undergoing physical standard tests and medical examinations. Those who clear these initial stages will be required to take part in physical efficiency tests, including running and endurance-based activities. Successful candidates will then be shortlisted for a written examination to be held at a later date, completing the multi-stage assessment process.

Eligibility for the posts was restricted to indigenous inhabitants belonging to Naga tribes. Officials highlighted that this recruitment marks a significant shift in procedure, as applications were accepted entirely online for the first time. The move towards digitisation is aimed at streamlining the process and reducing scope for irregularities.

Authorities said strict safeguards have been put in place to maintain transparency and ensure selections are made purely on merit. Dedicated monitoring teams have been deployed at recruitment centres across the state, and all candidates are being evaluated strictly in line with prescribed standards and norms.

Deputy Chief Minister Yanthungo Patton, who also oversees the Home department, reassured applicants that the recruitment would be conducted in a fair and impartial manner. He emphasised that there would be no room for favouritism or outside influence, urging aspirants to rely only on their preparation and performance.

The recruitment drive is scheduled to continue until January 16, with officials expecting the process to conclude smoothly as thousands of young aspirants compete for a place in the Nagaland Police.
