Guwahati, Feb 10: As many as 4,38,565 candidates are appearing in the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examination across Assam this year, with 1,046 examination centres operational statewide.
The examinations, conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA), began on February 10 with the Assamese paper, marking a crucial academic milestone for lakhs of students aiming to pursue higher secondary education. Authorities have urged all stakeholders to strictly adhere to prescribed rules to ensure a smooth, fair and malpractice-free examination process.
In Dhubri district, 26,932 candidates appeared at 47 centres under tight security and close administrative monitoring. Students reached centres as early as 8 am, while large numbers of parents and guardians gathered outside. The district administration enforced a complete ban on mobile phones, smartwatches and other electronic devices inside examination halls. Most centres are under CCTV surveillance, prohibitory orders have been imposed around venues, and flying squads and special observers have been deployed across urban and rural areas, including Bilasipara and Chapar.
Officials said Dhubri remains one of the high-enrolment districts, underlining the HSLC examination’s importance as a gateway to higher secondary education. The administration appealed to parents and the public to maintain a calm atmosphere around centres.
