National: At least 73 mobile phones worth nearly ₹23.85 lakh were reported stolen during pop star Enrique Iglesias’ sold-out concert at the MMRDA Grounds in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) on Wednesday evening, Mumbai Police confirmed on October 31.
Authorities have registered seven First Information Reports (FIRs) in connection with the thefts, which took place as the Spanish singer performed before a crowd of over 25,000 fans. Among the victims were a hotelier, journalist, makeup artist, students, and several businesspersons, officials said.
The concert, marking Iglesias’ debut performance in Mumbai, featured a 90-minute set with chart-topping hits such as Hero and Bailamos. Tickets for the event started at ₹7,000, drawing massive attendance and packed stands.
Police suspect a coordinated theft operation, with multiple pickpockets targeting concert-goers during the performance. Investigators are now reviewing CCTV footage from the venue to identify and track down the culprits.
