Guwahati: The P.A. Sangma International Medical College and Hospital (PIMC) marked its first anniversary on November 11, with a grand celebration and an Orientation Program for the new MBBS batch at the Central Auditorium. The event was graced by eminent neurosurgeon Dr. M.L.A. Rahman of Rahman Hospitals and Hayat Hospital, Guwahati, as the chief guest.
The ceremony was attended by Prof. G.D. Sharma, Vice Chancellor of USTM; Dr. R.K. Sharma, Advisor USTM; Dr. Jogesh Sharma, Director of Medical Education, PIMC; Dr. Abhinandan Das, Principal, PIMC; and senior faculty members and parents. The program began with the College Anthem, followed by a Smriti Tarpan in memory of late Dr. Zubeen Garg and the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, symbolizing the light of knowledge.

The event featured the release of the PIMC Annual Report, highlighting achievements in academics, research, and community outreach. Dr. Rahman delivered an inspiring keynote address urging students to uphold empathy and integrity in medical practice.
The Academic Awards Presentation recognised top performers of the MBBS First Professional Examination (August 2025). A moving White Coat Ceremony followed, as students took the Hippocratic Oath, marking their formal induction into the medical profession.
The day concluded with a Parents-Teachers Meet and a Cultural Program, celebrating PIMC’s growing legacy of excellence and compassion in medical education.
