Pakke Kessang becomes first Arunachal district to erect official boundary pillar

Pakke Kessang has become the first district in Arunachal Pradesh to erect an official boundary pillar along the inter-state border with Assam, marking a step towards formalising the demarcation of the disputed boundary.

The pillar was installed at Dikalmukh in Pakke Kessang district to mark the demarcated boundary between the two states. Health and Family Welfare Minister and Seijosa MLA Biyuram Wahge was present at the site during the installation.

The initiative is aimed at formally identifying and strengthening the demarcation of the Arunachal Pradesh-Assam boundary at the district level.

The Pakke Kessang District Administration has also been nominated for the Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister’s Award in recognition of its work on the boundary demarcation initiative.

The Assam-Arunachal Pradesh boundary has remained a longstanding issue, with both states taking steps in recent years to resolve disputes and establish clearer demarcation of their shared border.
