Guwahati, Feb 15: A serious allegation has emerged from the premises of Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where a patient was reportedly left inside an ambulance for several hours without receiving medical attention.
According to the patient’s family members, the individual was brought to the hospital from Gohpur at around 3:00 AM but remained inside the ambulance until nearly 11:30 AM. The relatives alleged that despite repeatedly approaching doctors and staff at the CN Centre within the hospital complex and pleading for urgent treatment, no immediate assistance was provided.
The family also claimed that a female doctor on duty behaved in a rude and inappropriate manner when they sought intervention. They alleged that the doctor misbehaved with the patient’s attendants during their attempts to secure medical help.
Voicing deep distress over the incident, the relatives have appealed to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to take strict action against the doctor concerned and to ensure accountability in the matter.
At the time of filing this report, no official statement had been issued by the hospital authorities regarding the allegations.
