ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has conveyed his best wishes to the Jang Shengzam Brothers Youth Association for organising the third edition of the Universal Compassion Cup 2026 football tournament.
The tournament is scheduled to commence on June 21 as part of the celebrations marking the 91st birthday of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.
In a message, Khandu expressed hope that the event would encourage young people to embrace the values of compassion, peace, unity and friendship, ideals that His Holiness has consistently promoted throughout his life.
The Chief Minister also extended his best wishes to the organisers and participating teams, stating that sporting events such as the Universal Compassion Cup play a significant role in fostering harmony, strengthening youth engagement and promoting a spirit of community.
He noted that such initiatives not only encourage sporting excellence but also contribute to building social cohesion and mutual understanding among people.
