Pijush Hazarika Unveils Jobs, Industry and Welfare Push Ahead of Assam Polls

Guwahati, April 4: Assam Minister and BJP leader Pijush Hazarika on April 4 outlined an expansive roadmap focused on employment generation, industrial growth and welfare expansion, promising large-scale benefits if the party returns to power in the state.

Placing job creation at the centre of the agenda, Hazarika said the government aims to generate between 2 lakh and 2.5 lakh government jobs in the next term. He also highlighted the Mukhyamantri Atmanirbhar Scheme, noting that around one lakh youths have already received financial assistance of ₹2 lakh each. He added that the next phase targets bringing 10 lakh youths under the scheme, with the assistance amount proposed to be increased to ₹5 lakh.

On industrial development, the minister referred to investment commitments secured during Advantage Assam 2.0, stating that Memorandums of Understanding worth ₹5.5 lakh crore have been signed, with projects valued at ₹2 lakh crore already under implementation. He said Guwahati is expected to see the development of 15 five-star hotels, while the upcoming semiconductor facility in Jagiroad is projected to generate employment for approximately 29,000 local youths.

Highlighting progress in education and welfare, Hazarika said over 57 lakh students have received free textbooks, while 10 lakh girl students have been provided bicycles. He added that nearly four lakh girls have benefited under the Nijut Moina Scheme, alongside the rollout of the Nijut Babu Scheme.

In the healthcare sector, he said the number of medical colleges in Assam has increased to 16, with medical seats rising from 726 to 1,850. Plans are in place to further expand capacity to 2,800 seats in the near future.

Positioning these measures as part of a broader development strategy, Hazarika said the BJP government remains focused on accelerating industrialisation, expanding employment opportunities for youth and strengthening welfare delivery across Assam.
