Guwahati, May 4: Assam minister and BJP leader Pijush Hazarika registered a decisive victory from the Jagiroad Assembly constituency in Assam, winning by a margin of over 93,000 votes in the 2026 elections.
With this emphatic mandate, Hazarika has secured his fourth consecutive term, further consolidating his political dominance in the constituency. He defeated Congress candidate Bubul Das in a one-sided contest as the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance surged across the state.
The result also reflects broader support for the ruling alliance under Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, with the NDA heading towards a third consecutive term in office.
Celebrations broke out among BJP workers and supporters following the announcement of results, with party cadres describing the victory as a strong endorsement of the government’s development agenda and welfare initiatives.
Hazarika thanked the electorate of Jagiroad for their continued support, stating that the victory belongs to the people who backed development, stability and progress.
